ACADEMY CLASSES

THE FOLLOWING CLASSES WILL COMMENCE FROM FEBRUARY 2021 AT THE DRESSMAKER/DESIGNER ACADEMY. DATE TO BE ADVISED.

All classes have a maximum of 8, and a minimum of 3 students’ to run.

MONDAY
9.00am – 12.00
Any sewing projects you have been unable to complete.

Come and hire a machine and use our facilities and expertise to help you complete your project. Minimum machine/studio hire (1hr). You may bring your own machine. The charge is $15 per hour or part hour hereafter. You must bring all dressmaking supplies to class.

12.00 – 3.00pm
Foundational Skills Sampler – Elementary Certificate
If you would like to learn to sew and design clothes for yourself, friends and as a future career option, you need to complete the Foundational Skills Sampler.

There are 3 parts to the Sampler. The Intermediate and Advanced will be offered at a later date.

5.00pm – 7.30
Free catch up time –
Is set aside each week for any student who has been unable to complete a course they have participated in at the Dressmaker/Designer Academy.

A certificate of achievement will be awarded upon the full completion of the individual module.

TUESDAY9.00am – 12.00
Apparel Industry fabric handling skills and construction techniques.

This module will suit students with prior sewing experience who would like to extend their knowledge and fabric handling machine skills and construction techniques for sewing darts, zips, waistbands, buttons and buttonholes, hems, collars, pockets, seams and seam finishes.

12.00 – 3.00pm
5.00pm – 8.00
Foundational Skills Sampler –Elementary Certificate.

If you would like to learn to sew and design clothes for yourself, friends and as a future career option, you need to complete the Foundational Skills Sampler.

The Intermediate level Sampler and the Advanced Skills Sampler will be offered at a later date.

Design a Skirt.

Students’ will learn how to use a basic skirt pattern to make design changes. They will learn pattern markings and seam allowances, how to cut out and make up a toile to fit their individual figure using basic dressmaking skills.

12.00 – 3.00pm
